Conservation Efforts
Conservation is a key pillar of Safari Club International, and the Georgia Chapter of SCI embraces the conservation ethic of hunters and promotes hunter stewardship of wildlife resources. The Georgia Chapter works closely with the Georgia Department of Natural Resource, researchers, and universities to provide support for conservation efforts throughout the state of Georgia and to ensure that the best science is used to make wildlife conservation decisions.
The Georgia Chapter also provides a financial contribution to the Georgia DNR Law Enforcement Division in support of their cellular game camera program. And finally, the Georgia Chapter recognizes the Georgia DNR Investigative Ranger of the Year at our annual banquet.
Supporting Wildlife Research
The Georgia Chapter of SCI is proud to support to critical work being performed by researchers at the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. In 2021, the Georgia Chapter made a contribution in the amount of $2,500 to the Deer Research Lab at UGA. The UGA Deer Research Lab is conducting essential whitetail research, including reproductive processes and behaviors, communications, hearing and visual capacities, impact of disease, and more. Learn more about the deer research being performed by UGA. The Georgia Chapter is also a financial supporter of the research being performed by UGA Wild Turkey Lab.
